Path to Church Membership

If you are looking for answers on what we believe about church membership and why we believe it is important for Christians to be members of a local church, read this article!

We're glad that you are interested in learning more about joining Autumn Ridge Community Church as a member!  Our pathway is designed to affirm and cultivate these biblical marks of church membership:

  1. A right confession of faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ
  2. Fruit of the Spirit (the conduct of one's life) which accompanies that confession of faith
  3. A glad sense of calling to be part of a specific local church (in this case, Autumn Ridge Community Church)

Step #1: The Ridgeline Class

The Ridgelines Class is a four sessions designed to introduce people to the D.N.A. of Autumn Ridge Community Church.  These include:
1.  What is the Gospel?
2.  Seven Things You Should Know About Autumn Ridge Community Church
3.  How Autumn Ridge Community Church Makes Disciples
4.  What it Means to be a Member of Autumn Ridge Community Church
The Ridgelines Class is a great way to meet other church attenders, network with church leaders, ask your questions, and investigate our beliefs and practices. To see the current Ridgelines Class Schedule, and to take the next steps towards participating in it, please click here.

Step #2: Write Your Testimony

We ask all those seeking church membership to write down a brief summary which answers the following three questions:
1.  What were you saved from? (What was your life like apart from Christ?)
2.  Who were you saved by? (How did you meet Jesus? Who do you believe Him to be?)
3.  What were you saved to? (How has Jesus changed the way you live, and how does He continue to transform your life?)
These testimonies help our church’s elders get to know the people who are joining the church as members.  This is also a great exercise in sharing the Gospel though one’s testimony.

Step #3: Meet with an Elder

One of our church’s elders will contact you to schedule a conversation once the testimony is forwarded. Our elders take the time to learn about your testimony, the needs of your life, and the ways you are interested in serving with Autumn Ridge Community Church during this conversation.  We also take time to answer your questions and address your concerns.

Step #4: Affirmed by the Church

The elders of the church recommend those seeking membership to be received into the membership of Autumn Ridge Community Church once the Biblical marks have been affirmed and any lingering questions answered. The members of the church vote to affirm this recommendation through a 2/3-majority vote at a duly-called meeting of the church.
