Main Point: Through His resurrection and ascension, Jesus is with us always (through His Holy
Spirit)
I. The historicity of Jesus’ resurrection (Matt. 27:57 – 28:7)
II. The implications of Jesus’ resurrection and ascension (Matt. 28:8-20)
III. Because Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to the Father, we have the Holy Spirit
– Jesus INSIDE us and with us – forever. What does that mean for us?
a. We share Jesus’ Father
Galatians 4:6 (ESV): God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out,
“Abba, Father.”
b. We share Jesus’ righteousness
Ezekiel 36:25-27 (ESV) – 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be
clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse
you. 26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And
I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of
flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes
and be careful to obey my rules.
c. We share Jesus’ comfort
John 14:26 (KJV) – “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the
Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to
your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
